Changes

My son is selling his house in Norman so the plan now is to help get the house ready to sell so I am making a fast trip back to the north Texas Thousand Trail Preserve where I started this trip through Texas. This way I will be closer to Norman so I can help out.

It is really nice to have such a flexible life so I can just rearrange a few things and go help out a family member.

Gulf coast

Drove down to the Gulf coast today. It was a long drive but I wanted to be able to say I saw the Gulf of Mexico. I put my hand in it even. The shells on the beach were all different from what I have seen on the Pacific coast so I spent a lot of time looking them over. So now I have walked the beaches of the Pacific, Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico.

I have not made any progress fixing my PC. The disk error checking came back clean. I may try taking it apart and check the connections next. Such fun.

The weather has been great here. On my trip today I saw 82 degrees on a bank sign. My left arm got a bit of a tan during my drive. So nice for January! When I got back to my RV I read the paper that was delivered and read an article about the cold temps in the midwest. Sorry about that guys. Hope you are all able to keep warm up there in the cold north.

I hate computers

Spending the day working on my Windows laptop. It has been crashing with disk errors lately and I finally decided something needs to be done about it. I have been keeping it backed up so when it dies, I will have what I need to continue living. Just finished doing a final backup and will try to fix the disk error now. Wish me luck.

Moving day delayed

I was to have moved on to my next Thousand Trail Preserve Wednesday but when I checked the weather for my destination, I found out they had flash flood warnings and heavy thunderstorms. Thank you Stephanie for the excellent weather app! I went to the ranger station and arranged to stay one more day at Medina and delay my arrival at Colorado River. For my trip Thursday the weather was great. Sunny with no wind so I had an easy drive.

When I arrived at Colorado River, I arranged to get my propane filled so I should be good for a few months on propane. This is a small park for TT but there were several nice sites to choose from.

Today I went into town and picked up some groceries. Also had to come to the main lodge to get on their wifi as I am up to the limit on my Verizon card. I did too many app updates on my iPod touch without realizing how much data was involved.

So anyway, that is what has been happening lately.

Hope you are having a great day.

Moved

Today I changed sites at the park I am at.  It has been raining almost daily here and getting quite muddy at my site so I decided to move into an area that drains better and has more gravel.  I picked out the new site and let them know at the office and it was a done deal.

The new site is not a full hookup site but I am only going to be here for a few more days and I just need to dump once yet before I leave so that is not an issue.  Since I am in the non full hookup site area, there is no one around and it is totally quiet.  The deer are not hanging around here either since there is nobody here to feed them usually.

Talked to a gentleman who was getting ready to pull out today and he told me the Colorado River Thousand Trails Preserve was open all year not just open weekends like the online schedule said.  As soon as I was settled into my new site I got online and changed my reservations to go to Colorado River when I leave here Wednesday.  This will work out better because I will not need to camp outside the Thousand Trails system and pay for camping as much this winter.  So far I have spent $20 in camp fees since October 24th when I arrived at my first Texas TT preserve.  Not bad.  I paid the $20 because I didn't want to drive almost 300 miles in one day from Lake Whitney to Medina Lake.  I like to keep my travels to under 200 miles in a day if I can.

Hope this new year is treating you good.

Holidays

I hope everyone had a safe, enjoyable holiday season.  Now it is time get busy and make 2013 the best year of your life.

Things are very quiet here except for last night when people were playing with fireworks. Fortunately it has been raining off and on for a couple of days so everything was wet.

In about a week I will be moving on toward Houston but for now I am lying low and concentrating on getting some knitting projects done.

Looks like the sun is coming out so I think I will take my walk for the day.
